An oval bust-length portrait of Samuel Hood (1762–1814) in captain’s full dress uniform, 1795–1812, with the Nile medal, the ribbon and star of the Order of the Bath and the neck decoration of the Sicilian Order of St Ferdinand and of Merit. Lettered beneath the image with the title, ‘Sir Samuel Hood K.B. K.S.F.’ Also lettered with the publication details: ‘European Magazine / Engraved by Ridley, Holl & Blood from an Original Miniature in the possession of Lady Hood. Published by J. Asperne at the Bible, Crown & Constitution, 1 Septr. 1807’.
Comes framed as seen. Measures 20.5cm in length and 15cm in width.
